History

  • January 2005 - Gran Tierra Energy Inc. incorporated in Alberta, Canada.
  • May 2005 - Gran Tierra Energy’s management team is installed.
  • September 2005 - Acquisition of producing and non-producing properties in Argentina.
  • November 2005 - Reverse acquisition of Goldstrike Inc. - incorporated in Nevada in June 2003 and trading on the NASD OTC Bulletin Board. Concurrent spin-off of the former assets of Goldstrike, installation of the management and Board of Directors and adoption of the business plan of the former Gran Tierra Energy, and change of name from Goldstrike Inc. to Gran Tierra Energy Inc.
  • June 2006 - Acquisition of Argosy Energy International in Colombia, completion of acquisition/farm-in agreement in Argentina.
  • 2006 - Awarded Blocks 122 & 128 in the Maranon Basin in northeastern Peru.
  • November/December 2006 - Acquisition of interests of Compania General de Combustibles (CGC) in Argentina.
  • March 2007 - Discovered the Juanambu oil field in the Guayuyaco Block in Colombia.
  • July 2007 -  Discovered the Costayaco oil field in the Chaza Block in Colombia. 
  • Fourth Quarter 2007 - Award of two new Technical Evaluation Areas in Colombia to Gran Tierra Energy.
  • August 2008 - Discovered the Popa gas and condensate field in the Rio Magdalena Block in Colombia.
  • September 2008 -  Discovered the Proa oil field in the Surubi Block in Argentina. 
  • November 2008 - Business combination with Solana Resources completed on November 14, 2008 resulting in Gran Tierra acquiring a 100% working interest in the Costayaco field, one of the largest oil discoveries in Colombia in recent years.
  • August 2009 - Costayco production plateau of 19,000/bbls/d gross
  • September 2009 - Brazil office is opened.
  • June 2010 - Discovered Moqueta field in the Chaza Block, Colombia
  • June 2010 -  Successfully bid on 3 Blocks at Colombia's National Hydrocarbon Agency 2010 Bid Round.
  • August 2010 - Established an initial exploration and production position in Brazil.
  • October 2010 - Oil discovery at the Jilguero 1 Well in the Llanos Basin, Colombia
  • January 2011 -  GTE enters into an agreement to acquire Petrolifera Petroleum Ltd.
  • March 2011 -  Successfully closed the Petrolifera Acquisition.
