The Board of Gran Tierra Energy brings together a mix of oil and gas, drilling and business experience. The company was conceived by Jeffrey Scott and Walter Dawson, who also founded Saxon Energy Services Inc, an expanding Canadian public company involved in oil and gas drilling and related services in South America.

Jeffrey Scott – Chairman
Jeffrey is currently President of Postell Energy, a private Canadian oil company. He has been active in numerous publicly traded oil and gas companies in many senior capacities including founder, officer and director. He is currently a director of Saxon Energy Services, and Suroco Energy.

Walter Dawson
Walter was founder and a Director of Saxon Energy Services, an international land-based drilling and well-servicing contractor headquartered in Calgary and operating in South America. He served as President, Chief Executive Officer and a Director and founded Computalog Gearhart Ltd, and later founded Enserco Energy Services Company Inc. (formerly Bonus Resource Services Corp.)

Verne Johnson
Verne has an extensive career in the energy industry after graduating in engineering.He started work with Imperial Oil and EXXON,was CEO and Director of a number of independent oil companies in Canada including ELAN Energy.He is currently Chairman of Fort Chicago Energy Partners LP,and a Director of Harvest Energy Trust,Gran Tierra Energy,Builders Energy Services Trust,and Suroco Energy,as well as a number of private companies.

Nick Kirton FCA, ICD.D
Joined the Board of Directors effective March 27, 2008, and will also assume the role of Chairman of the Audit Committee. Mr. Kirton is a Chartered Accountant and retired after a thirty-eight year career at KPMG. He currently sits on the boards of directors of four public companies and one private company. In addition, he is also a member of the Board of Governors of the University of Calgary and is a member of the Education and Qualifications Committee of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants.
