< Previous6 2024 SUSTAINABILITY REPORT A GLOBAL OPERATOR 2024 was a decisive year for Gran Tierra, marked by expansion into Canada and new areas in Ecuador, creating an independent energy company of scale in the Americas with significant production, reserves, cash flows and development optionality. The Company continues to develop a diverse portfolio of opportunities, leveraging its growing expertise across multiple regions. COLOMBIA A Core Pillar of Gran Tierra’s Strategy Colombia remains central to Gran Tierra’s strategy and continues to be the Company’s most significant contributor to production and net asset value. GTE has built a strong reputation in Colombia, often recognized by the national authorities as an industry leader for meeting its commitments, operating responsibly, and contributing to its energy sector. As the Company grows in Colombia and internationally, it remains fully committed to its obligations in the country and contributes towards lasting peace and stability through its many investments in communities. ECUADOR A Unique Opportunity Ecuador has quickly become a key area of opportunity for Gran Tierra, with strong exploration results and a long-term commitment to the region. In 2024, the Company drilled 6 successful exploratory wells, and its first-ever horizontal well in the country, while completing 238km 2 of seismic work to date. The resulting discoveries have unlocked new development opportunities in Ecuador and position the Company to add to its reserves for years to come. GTE’s success in Ecuador has been fuelled by strong experience across the border, and support from the Ecuadorian government. GTE has built a respected presence across the Americas with a focus on operational excellence, environmental responsibility, and strong partnerships. While the current report primarily covers Latin American operations, more complete data from operations in Canada will be included in 2025’s report. WESTERN CANADA A Strategic Expansion In late 2024, Gran Tierra materially expanded its asset base by entering Canada, through the acquisition of i3 Energy. The expansion into the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin aligned strategically with the Company’s operational experience in the region and its Calgary-based headquarters. It also doubled the Company’s reserves and diversified its portfolio into high-quality oil and gas basins with considerable resource potential and strong infrastructure access. SYNERGIES ACROSS GLOBAL OPERATIONS Adding Western Canada to GTE’s portfolio has created valuable cross-border synergies supporting operations in Canada, Colombia, and Ecuador. Technology Sharing: Canada’s experience with horizontal drilling, stimulation, and advanced reservoir management provides hands-on knowledge that has applications for its work in Colombia and Ecuador. Similarly, GTE’s disciplined engineering approach in Latin America provides valuable insights that can be applied to its Canadian operations. Environmental Best Practices: Canadian standards in minimizing environmental footprints and emissions are already being applied across operations. Regulatory Framework: An advanced regulatory framework in Western Canada allows for rapid licensing processes, providing valuable insights into improving regulatory efficiency elsewhere. The Company is leveraging this expertise to implement better design practices and advocate for more efficient regulatory processes in other jurisdictions, increasing stakeholder confidence while expediting project approvals.82024 SUSTAINABILITY REPORT STEWARDING THE ENVIRONMENT HEALTH AND SAFETY RESPECTING HUMAN RIGHTS INVESTING IN COMMUNITIES ENGAGING OUR NEIGHBOURS RESPONSIBLE GOVERNANCE INTRODUCTION ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENTECONOMIC DEvELOPMENT9 With our 2024 acquisition of assets in Western Canada, we essentially doubled our reserve book and secured a strong position in some of the most economic plays in the country. An essential pillar of this strategy is diversification, both geographically and in product mix. With 20% of its portfolio now in natural gas from its newly acquired Canadian assets, the Company has strategically positioned itself for the future. GTE looks beyond short-term market cycles and focuses on long-term value creation, maintaining a 20-year horizon. This disciplined approach has boosted its Reserve Life Index (RLI) 1 to 17 years, placing it among the industry’s top performers in Colombia. 1 The Reserve Life Index (RLI) is calculated as GTE’s Proved+Probable Reserves as of December 31, 2024 divided by its Annualized 2024 production. ENHANCING OIL RECOVERY GTE employs secondary and tertiary Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) methods. Over the past three years, GTE has led efforts to update Colombia’s EOR regulatory framework, resulting in a regulatory reform permitting the use of water produced from non-oil-producing subsurface zones for enhanced oil recovery, reducing the need to inject surface water, and alleviating pressure on shared water resources.12 2024 SUSTAINABILITY REPORT Payments to Suppliers, Contractors, and Other Third Parties $490 M Payments to Governments (Taxes, Royalties) $214 M Payments to Employees (Salaries and Benefits) $43 M Investment in Communities $11 M Social Investment $7 M ECONOMIC IMPACT * * In millions of USD. Through Work for Taxes, a mechanism created by the Colombian government, companies operating in Colombia can direct their tax revenues towards funding high-impact, community-driven projects that improve quality of life, drive economic growth, and support Colombia’s peacebuilding efforts. Work for Taxes was created as part of Colombia’s 2016 Peace Accords, which prioritized investment in historically marginalized areas, including those in Colombia’s Territory Focused Development Plan (PDET) and ZOmAC (most Affected Areas by the Armed Conflict) regions to support long-term stability in postconflict areas. In 2024, GTE invested $14.3 million USD to deliver four major infrastructure projects in the Putumayo region of Southern Colombia, making it the private company to invest the largest contribution to the program. The projects, which were developed with local leaders, include a new aqueduct system which will provide potable water to 1,300 residents in rural areas in the municipalities of mocoa, Valle del Guamuez and Puerto Asís, and the improvement of rural roads, benefiting 24,000 area residents. 24,000 Beneficiaries 1,300 Residents will have access to potable water, as a result of a newly installed aqueduct system $14.3 M USD Invested142024 SUSTAINABILITY REPORT OUR TEAM GTE’s success is driven by its people. A highly motivated team aligned with the Company’s goals is essential for stability and growth. GTE has created thousands of jobs across three countries, prioritizing local hiring and offering professional development opportunities through workforce training, career planning, and skill-building initiatives. Ecuador: Growing with Purpose GTE’s team in Ecuador is steadily growing and will continue to expand to meet operational needs as the Company increases development activities. Ecuadorian law requires companies operating in the Amazonian region to employ at least 80% local workers—a benchmark GTE has surpassed, with 87% of its 1,400-person strong workforce hired locally. Colombia: A Base of Expertise Colombia remains GTE’s most established operational hub, with a workforce that is over 90% local. Throughout the year, the Company has strengthened its Colombian workforce by offering professional development, making strategic organizational changes, and introducing fresh talent to complement the existing team. Canada: Successfully Integrating a New Workforce GTE’s expansion into Western Canada has opened new avenues for collaboration, professional growth, and knowledge-sharing across its global workforce. Employees from Colombia and Ecuador now have opportunities to collaborate with the new members of the Canadian Asset team, gaining valuable exposure to new technologies, regulatory environments, and operational strategies. Similarly, Canadian team members are learning from their counterparts in the Company’s Latin American operations.
