Road construction creates a significant amount of work and revenue for local suppliers. In Canada, road access is well developed, with thousands of kilometres of highways and rural roads supporting operations. Oil and gas companies, along with forestry and mining industries, collaborate to maintain and share existing roads, reducing environmental impact and costs. Since we first entered the hydrocarbon transportation sector, we’ve continuously learned and improved. We have taken the knowledge we gained from GTE in Colombia and implemented it in our operations here in Ecuador to build a safer and more efficient operation. The Company collaborates transparently with regulators to ensure that its practices meet or exceed all requirements and fully comply with its operating licences and permits. However, regulations alone do not always address every operational challenge. In such cases, GTE applies international best practices and its own rigorous internal standards, which are informed by Canadian regulations. Going Beyond Compliance is not just the right thing to do—it is essential to sustaining a long-term presence in the regions where GTE operates. ISO 14001 RECERTIFICATION IN 2024, GRAN TIERRA ENERGY ACHIEVED ISO 14001 RECERTIFICATION WITH ZERO NON-CONFORMITIES, REFLECTING ITS STRICT COMPLIANCE WITH INTERNATIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL STANDARDS. THE RIGOROUS RECERTIFICATION PROCESS INVOLVES DETAILED AUDITS AND PROOF OF EFFECTIVE ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROLS.
